Fifty-three African countries have welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Global Development Initiative proposal.
Support for the proposal by African countries was part of the outcome of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Dakar, Senegal, November 29-30, 2021, as content in the Dakar Action Plan (2022-2024) adopted by China and African countries.
In attendance were the heads of delegation from China and heads of delegation from 53 African countries and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Recall that following the severe shocks resulting from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Xi Jinping proposed on September 21, 2021 a Global Development Initiative to direct global development towards a new stage of balanced, coordinated growth. and inclusive.
In the action plan, China and the 53 African countries praised the development of relations between China and Africa and said that in the past 21 years since its establishment, the forum has strongly encouraged the development of relations between China and Africa and has become an important benchmark in international cooperation with Africa.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the effective implementation of the eight major initiatives launched at the 2018 Beijing Summit and pledged to pursue the vision of innovative, coordinated, green and open development for all, to promote a high-quality China-Africa cooperation and work together to defeat COVID-19 and advance post-pandemic economic recovery.
The two sides recognized that China, the largest developing country, has achieved the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and strives to realize its second centenary and the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation and that countries Africans were striving to build an integrated, prosperous and peaceful continent.
“China and Africa are committed to further strengthening their comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership and building an even stronger China-Africa community with a common future.
“The two sides undertake to create synergy between the China-Africa Cooperation Vision 2035, China’s long-term goals for 2035, the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the United Nations Agenda 2063. In the action plan, China welcomed African countries joining the Belt and Road cooperation.
China and Africa are committed to continuing to uphold the principle of comprehensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, including following the philosophy of open, green and clean cooperation, and to promote high-quality, people-centered and sustainable cooperation, the Belt and the Road.

Also, in the declaration adopted by the two parties at the end of the 8th Ministerial Conference, the two parties expressed their satisfaction with the fruitful results of the Sino-African relationship obtained since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the countries.
