Peterborough City, County and Townships to Receive COVID-19 Stimulus Fund

The city is set to receive just over $ 1 million and Peterborough County approximately $ 104,000 in stimulus funding from the federal and provincial governments, in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new program will share $ 22.2 million among 130 municipalities in eastern Ontario, according to an Ontario government announcement.

The federal government funds 80 percent of municipal projects, which means it will contribute $ 17.7 million of the $ 22.2 million. The Ontario government’s share is 20%, or $ 4.4 million.

The funding is intended to help improve municipal buildings such as city centers and emergency and health care facilities, according to a press release.

Here is a breakdown of the funding provided to the city, county and all townships in the county, as well as the city of Kawartha Lakes and Trent Hills:

  • City of Peterborough: $ 843,352 from federal government, $ 210,838 from province
  • County of Peterborough: $ 83,494 from federal government, $ 20,873 from province

  • Township of Asphodel-Norwood: $ 79,800 from the federal government, $ 19,950 from the province
  • Township of Cavan Monaghan: $ 80,000 from the federal government, $ 20,000 from the province
  • Township of Douro-Dummer: $ 80,000 from the federal government, $ 20,000 from the province
  • Township Havelock-Belmont-Methuen: $ 80,000 from the federal government, $ 20,000 from the province
  • Township of North Kawartha: $ 80,000 from the federal government, $ 20,000 from the province
  • Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan: $ 80,000 from the federal government, $ 20,000 from the province
  • Township of Selwyn: $ 80,000 from the federal government, $ 20,000 from the province
