Petpooja expands its footprint and makes inroads into the UAE and South African markets

- The platform’s growth trajectory has been remarkable, processing over 20% of online orders on Zomato and Swiggy and contributing 10% of the F&B industry’s GBD.
Petpooja, a next-generation restaurant management platform offering state-of-the-art point-of-sale (POS) software, has announced its expansion into the international markets of the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.
In the United Arab Emirates, the company has partnered with eLine Hospitality and in South Africa, the company has partnered with Zestro. These two partners have an extensive network of restaurants in their respective regions and, since their collaboration, have dedicated their teams to sales as well as customer support for the expansion of Petpooja. With their presence at ground level, Petpooja was able to create brand awareness and increase sales. With the effective POS solutions, it has already started building a brand and has acquired around 10% of customers in UAE and South Africa. This was made possible by realizing and exploiting the potential offered by outlets in these markets.
Contributing around 10% of the industry’s GDP, Petpooja helps restaurants manage their billing, inventory, online ordering, menu, staff and customers. Petpooja currently handles more than 20% of online orders for food delivery giants Swiggy and Zomato placed by restaurants. Petpooja’s PoS has surpassed all existing restaurant management software with its simplicity, efficiency and accessibility. Having multiple partners in over 30,000 customers in over 140 cities in India has helped the platform grow and venture into the international markets of UAE and South Africa.

Petpooja’s initiative in invoicing software reform has been recognized and appreciated nationally. In 2020, the company received $1.9 million in funding from B2B e-commerce unicorn, Udaan. Additionally, in 2021, it received $4.5 million in funding from Aroa Ventures, Udaan, and GVFL limited. To achieve its vision of automating the restaurant industry, the company created the “Waiter Call Device”; this small device is placed on the restaurant table and allows the customer to call a server if they need help without having to wait for the waiters’ attention.
Receiving phenomenal responses nationally and internationally, Petpooja is looking forward to aggressive expansion in the future. In the UAE, the company aims to have a team of 10 people and is on track to add over 500 outlets. In South Africa, where Petpooja started its journey just 6 months ago, the company is confident in building a team of 6-8 people with the aim of covering over 300 outlets. In India, Petpooja is striving to get over a million customers. All of these milestones are expected to be achieved by the end of the year. For its long-term goals, the company aims to develop better technology to fully automate the dining experience for customers.
